We specialise in assessing and treating musculoskeletal injuries.
Our objective is to resolve your symptoms and work with you to achieve your goals and back to how you were beforehand within a realistic timeframe.
We strongly believe in prevention rather than cure, so helping you to prevent the occurrence / re-occurrence of an injury. And this can included advice and demonstrations for postural issues, application of exercise or even your work related environment.
Our approach at Barrow & District Physiotherapy is to treat the whole body, not just an isolated injury. We offer a variety of personalised, one-to-one treatments to ensure our patients’ long-term health and wellness.
Barrow & District Physiotherapy is a private Physio clinic that was created by Physiotherapist Les Potter. Conveniently located at The Gym Group, Barrow.
Providing Physio and Massage Therapy services for Barrow, but also well attended by those travelling from Dalton, Ulverston, Grange, Askam, Kirkby and Millom
Firstly as with any new client, we will need to carry out an initial assessment to ascertain any problems that have been identified and what is needed to resolve these problems, then discuss this with you.
Then depending on the outcome of your initial assessment we offer the following:
This can either be a sports massage which is a deep tissue massage or a much lighter Swedish massage.
Both are seen as being relaxing and therapeutic and can help relieve pain, reduce stiffness, improve blood circulation and help in post exercise recovery.
This involves the Physio mobilising specific joints. The aim of which is to regain full movements, without pain and without other muscles and joints over compensating.
Therefore improving muscle activation and the way in which you move with activities, such as walking, running, cycling or swimming.
You will first be given a comprehensive and thorough initial assessment to determine your needs and ascertain what the main problems are and how best to treat these problems.
Injuries in sport can vary considerably, but can include acute injuries, muscle strains, sprained ligaments or tendons, tendinitis, tears, dislocations, pre and post surgery rehabilitation.
"Fantastic Physiotherapy Service!"
I have had several physios over the last few years. Nobody has come close to Les. For several reasons:
1. He was thorough, asked for all of my past history and current issues.
2. He has been able to relieve two hugely painful problem areas almost immediately, I had no expectations that they would be resolved so quickly.
3. He is knowledgeable and realistic with all treatment plans.
